Code Your Chances has reached girls all over the world, from our hometown of Chicago all the way to Southern India. No matter where you live or what your background is, you can code your chances!
Code Your Chances partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago to host our Introduction to Computer Science workshop for girls ages 8-13 at CC's Little Village in South Lawndale Chicago. This introductory workshop focuses on teaching fundamental concepts in computer science such as binary numbers, algorithms, data types, IO, and loops.
The workshop uses fun, hands-on activities in combination with coding practice to introduce girls to the field. A central component of the camps is to show girls the many opportunities and exciting careers that can come from knowing how to program.
Code Your Chances collaborated with the Chennai based educational organization "Cornerstone" to host a computer literacy camp for girls age 12-14. The camp took place at Cornerstone facilities in Chennai and featured a basic curriculum in computer literacy, both Apple and Windows, as well as an introduction to basic coding and its relevance in the world today.
The aim of this project was to educate our students on the many educational funding opportunities for girls in STEM industries, as well as the job opportunities available to women with computer skills, regardless of formal education. The camp introduced the value of coding as a professional skill and taught the girls how they can continue their coding education online using a variety of free resources.
